It has ben 5 days since we left Pearland for Dallas, because of hurricane Ike. We have been staying in a hotel that a friend setup for us. A family of 5 in a hotel for 5 nights makes for its own kind of hurricane.

We should be coming home Tuesday morning. From what I hear, there is still no power in our area, and our house had just a little damage. House = ok Fence = gone Cool, at least a get a new fence. Well, also the water and natural gas still work. So we can cook if needed. I mean so Beth can cook, that is a good thing. Thank God we are all ok. I am sure we will be spending the next few weeks & months helping at the church and in our neighborhoods.

I have one issue with these hurricanes? Who is the guy that sits in an office and names them. Does this guy have a list of approved names from the government?. I’m sure he’s siting there thinking… whoa… that’s a big one, so lets name it after my mean uncle named “IKE”. Or he is thinking.. there was this french guy who was rude to me once. Lets name it “GUSTAV”. I’m sure thats how they get named!!!

I want that job!. I have some name suggestions for names. How about “PUNISHER” or “DEMOLISHER”? Can you see a Hurricane named “DEVISTATION” those are good hurricane names. What about even “BOB”. I have never heard of a hurricane named “BOB”. Nobody would probably take a Hurricane Bob seriously. I digress. Hope everyone is ok.

Here I am in Destin, Florida at a conference for a missions fundraising group called Speed the LIght. I had one full day to myself at a very beautiful white sand beach. The only real problem is that… I am by myself. I never realized that in the past 13 years, I haven’t been at a cool place without my family or the students and leaders from my group at church. Its very funny how when you are solo how easier it is to get bored. Even at the beach, what do you do by yourself? Play in the sand? Build yourself a sand castle as a 36 year old guy alone at the beach? sounds weird to you too…

I have been missing my family. Beth couldn’t come since the girls are in school. This place would be a lot cooler if they were here. Anyway here is a goofy picture of my feet in some cool white sand at the beach. Hopefully I will be home soon.

We took our youth group to an Astros game Tuesday night. So we decided also to take the girlies as well. I think my girls like baseball. Right now Shelby is just learning the game. Audrey like to run around and see everything, while Macey will clap when everyone else claps for a certain play.

Today was the first day the neighborhood pool was open. So while I was helping the in-laws work in their yard. Beth took all 3 girlies to the new pool. When I returned they had lunch and immediately they wanted to go back. Of coarse I said “Sure”. So the next hour was full of splashing, jumping, swimming, and my favorite… tossing small children into the air, then watching them land in the water and scream, “DO IT AGAIN!!!!” We had a blast at our new pool today.

On Tuesday nights after studying for messages for the next day. I seem to find myself enthralled in a Discovery Channel top show called “Deadliest Catch”. Many of you probably have heard of this show. I can’t seem to get enough of it… the thought of being on one of those boats, catching crab, seems freaky.

Just watching the waves and turning of the boats, makes me want to toss my cookies.  This episode is over… I guess I need to go to sleep, but wait… the next episode is coming on. Gotta watch it. Maybe soon the fam. & i will go to Papa’s Seafood and I can actually, maybe eat one of these crabs. maybe?
